The Salt Honey Mask

A Secret to Younger Looking Skin

Honey has been used by humans through the centuries to help maintain healthy skin and hair. One of the most beautiful women in the world, Cleopatra, legend has it, applied a honey mask to her face every morning and took milk and honey baths to keep her skin smooth, healthy, and youthful. In Ming dynasty China, women in the emperor’s court used honey and ground orange seeds to keep their skin and hair fresh and beautiful.

But what was there about this amazing ingredient that made people take note? Well, for one thing honey never needed additives to keep it from spoiling, a blessing in the pre-refrigerator era.  Only much later did modern scientists discover that it has strong antioxidant properties and is a great source of enzymes, vitamins and minerals and amino acids that reduce inflammation and promote cellular regeneration, which helps keep skin youthful.

6 THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND BEFORE GETTING A SUGARING/WAXING

  1. Don’t schedule a wax within three days prior to your period. That’s when your skin tends to be extra sensitive.
  2. Take a hot shower before waxing or simply place onto the skin a warm & wet towel to soften up the skin, loosen the pores so that the waxing will be less painful. Or you can also go for ibuprofen, half an hour before your appointment. It will aid in lessening the discomfort.
  3. Your hair must be around ¼ inches long. Your aesthetician will trim your hair in a right length before she spreads the sugar wax on your body part.
  4. You can ask your aesthetician to leave a triangle shape or a strip of hair or do “whatever shapes makes you feel comfortable and confident!”
  5. Keep that area clean and apply moister cream daily after waxing if it`s possible.
  6. Always pick a place that you can trust with the quality of the wax used and the experience of the aesthetician performing it are extremely crucial.

BODY HAIR REMOVAL WAS CONSIDERED AN ART FROM ABOUT 1450 B.C.

The earliest references to hair removal came from the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt and Greece. Early writings out of Mesopotamia tell of kings asking that women be brought to them clean and smooth, i.e. hairless. Ancient Egyptians place a high importance on aesthetics and cosmetics. Egyptian hieroglyphics describe how slave girls serving Pharaoh were expected to remove their body hair. Hair on the body was considered unclean by the upper class. Possibly through a fortuitous accidence, the method of using sugar for hair removal treatments was developed.
