F.A.Q. for Sugaring

What is sugaring?

Sugaring is an all-natural, organic method of hair removal. A paste made of sugar, honey, lemon, and water is used to safely remove hair and dead skin cells from the skin. In addition to removing facial and body hair, sugaring gives the skin an amazing exfoliation.

What are the benefits of getting a Brazilian sugaring?

Skin is left smooth and soft; reduced chance of ingrown hairs; hair grows back finer and slower; and only all natural ingredients, no chemicals, and less traumatic for the skin. It will not cause hyper-pigmentation of the skin as does shaving.

Who is a good candidate for sugaring?

Sugaring is great for everyone. It is great alternative to other methods of hair removal for people with sensitive skin as well.

What should I do to prepare for my sugaring appointment?

If possible, take a warm shower before your appointment so the skin is clean and soft.

How can I prevent ingrown hairs?

Right after sugaring, apply Vaseline or cocoa butter to the area. Continue to apply Vaseline/cocoa butter twice a day to keep the skin soft. Also, avoid wearing tight clothing for at least 24 hours after sugaring. Avoid shaving and waxing between sugaring appointments.

How often should I get sugared?

Approximately every 4 weeks. Depending on your hair growth rate, you may choose to come earlier or later than 4 weeks.

Do you offer sugaring services for men?

We offer all services for men and women.

Is it safe to get sugared during pregnancy?

Yes, our sugaring specialists have been trained to provide a gentle and efficient service for mothers-to-be.

Can I get sugared during that time of the month?

As the skin can be extra sensitive during this time, we don’t recommend getting sugared during the week leading up to your period.

How long is long enough for my hair to get sugaring?

Sugaring is effective in removing very short hairs. We recommend at least 1/8” of hair growth.

F.A.Q. for Eyelash Extensions

How long will my Eyelash Extensions last?

Eyelash extensions are called “semi-permanent” because the life cycle of a natural lash is anywhere from two to three months, during which time it grows, remains “at rest,” and then falls out. Once it falls out, it is replaced by the growth of a new lash. At any given time, your lashes are at different stages in their life cycle, which is why fills should be scheduled to maintain full lashes.

If your hair and nails tend to grow quickly, then that your lashes are also likely to be growing, shedding, and renewing themselves quickly. You may find that your lashes don’t last as long as someone with slow hair growth.

Your lifestyle and the type of work you do will also affect how long they will last.

Lash extensions can be continued indefinitely as long as you’d like, and professionally removed at any time.

Are eyelash extensions safe?

When applied correctly by a licensed professional, lash extensions are safe. Be sure to do your research and only go to trained and certified professionals.

How do I prepare for the service?

You should thoroughly clean your lashes with a mild cleanser. Use an oil-free makeup remover to clean your lashes prior to the application. If you regularly wear false lashes or waterproof mascara spend extra time cleaning lashes before service. Avoid caffeinated beverages or medications that will cause you to feel jittery. As the service is approximately 2 hours long, you can bring your iPod to listen to during the procedure.

Will I lose any of my own natural eyelashes?

We naturally shed about 4 lashes per day per eye but you may notice the shedding more with your lash extensions attached. As long as you do not rub your eyes, or tug or pull your lash extensions, or use products not recommended, you do not have to worry.

Are the extensions glued to my skin?

No, they are attached to your natural lashes, about 1mm away from your skin.

How do eyelash extensions feel?

When applied correctly, eyelash extensions look and feel as if they are your own lashes. Each lash is made of practically weightless synthetic fibers that are polished, sized, and curled for a natural look and feel.

I have no lashes.
I have a tendency to pull out my natural lashes.
My lashes are weak and/or damaged.
Can I still get lash extensions?

Unfortunately, no. The lash extensions need to be attached to your own natural lashes, not your skin. So if there is no natural lash or if the natural lash is damaged or weak, we cannot safely attach an extension.

Can I wear mascara/eye-makeup?

Lash extensions give you the luxury of not needing mascara. However, many people like to add extra drama to the extensions. Only use mascara specially made for use with lash extensions, and only apply to the tips of the extensions, not the entire lash down to the base of the lash. NEVER use water-proof mascara as it will be difficult to remove without damaging the adhesive bond holding the lash extension to the natural lash. It will also make fills for your lashes very difficult.

Avoid using liquid liner on your lash line. Using shadow as a liner is another option.

Only use water-based cosmetics and mascara.

What do I have to do to keep them up?

Schedule a fill every 2-4 weeks to keep them full. Avoid oily skin products and cosmetics around the eye area. Do not rub your eyes. Don’t tug or pull on the extensions. Avoid sleeping on your stomach or sides. Avoid steam.

How soon before an event should I have them done?

We suggest getting a trial set of lashes a month before your event to see how they feel and to get used to wearing and caring for them. We suggest getting the “event set” about a week before the event.

How do you remove lash extensions?

Please do not attempt to remove them yourself as you may damage your natural lashes. Come in and let us professionally remove them with a professional adhesive remover. Or you can choose to let the extensions grow and shed off with your natural lashes.

F.A.Q. for Spray Tanning

How do I prepare for my spray tan?

Shower and exfoliate before your tan appointment. Make sure you don’t have any lotion, deodorant, perfume, makeup or oil on your skin. Wear loose, dark clothing and keep in mind you won’t be able to swim, shower or exercise for at least 8 hours after your appointment. Also, it is best to avoid any activities or places that will cause you to perspire.

Dry skin will not hold a tan for very long. Moisturize twice a day for at least a week prior to your tan appointment.

Oily skin tends to tan on the lighter side. Something to keep in mind if you’re trying to achieve a darker shade.

How does spray tanning work?

The spray tanning solution contains the active ingredient DHA, which is found in the majority of sunless tanning products. DHA is a sugar based product which reacts with amino acids in the uppermost layer of the skin and causes it to darken and appear tanned.

How long does a spray tan session take?

A full body tan can be applied in under 5 minutes. Depending on your desired result, our certified tech will determine if an additional application is needed.

Is spray tanning safe?

A spray tan is completely safe. Our tanning solution is free of harsh chemicals and contains only water, aloe vera and DHA sugars, the ingredient which turns the skin brown and has been safely used in sunless tanning products for over 35 years.

What should I wear while getting spray tanned?

You may go nude, wear undergarments or swimwear, just keep in mind that whatever you wear will leave tan lines. We provide disposable undergarments for your convenience.

When will I start to see color?

There is a cosmetic bronzer in the solution so you will see color immediately. The bronzer will wash off with your first shower and your tan will continue to develop over the next 12-24 hours.

How long will my tan last?

When taken care of properly your tan will last 7-10 days. The most important thing is to keep your skin moisturized with a water-based lotion. We recommend using South Seas Moorea Moisturizer for best results.

Will I look orange?

You will NOT look orange! We specialize in natural looking tans. Skin looking orange is a result of applying too much DHA, the active ingredient in most self-tanning products. Our trained tech will apply the right amount of color to achieve your desired look.

Do I still need to use SPF when I go in the sun?

Yes, you will need to use SPF because your spray tan does not have any sun protection. For best results, use South Seas SPF 30 Sport Sunscreen. It’s formulated to provide sun protection while not affecting the look of your spray tan and has a light, pretty scent!

Can I still get tan from the sun after I spray tan?

Absolutely. Just remember even though you have color, it’s not a base tan, so use a sunscreen formulated to work with your spray tan to protect your skin. We recommend South Seas Sun Screen.

Can pregnant women spray tan?

We have spray tanned many pregnant women, but we always recommend you check with your own doctor first.

A woman’s tan can be directly affected by her hormones. Considering her cycle, it can cause blotchiness or the color not to develop as dark as normally. It’s rare, but it happens.

Does spray tanning stain clothing?

The cosmetic bronzer in the tanning solution may occasionally rub off on clothes. The solution is a water-based product and can be easily washed out of clothing or bedding just like makeup. This will not occur after your first shower.

How do I maintain my tan?

Moisturize regularly with a water-based moisturizer. We recommend South Seas Moorea Moisturizer.

Avoid long hot baths and showers. Avoid oil-based skin products and cosmetics. We recommend South Seas Bikini Island body wash for bathing.

Pat (don’t rub) your skin dry with a towel after a bath or shower.

Avoid swimming pools, saunas/steam rooms, and perspiring, as much as possible.
