A Secret to Younger Looking Skin

Honey has been used by humans through the centuries to help maintain healthy skin and hair. One of the most beautiful women in the world, Cleopatra, legend has it, applied a honey mask to her face every morning and took milk and honey baths to keep her skin smooth, healthy, and youthful. In Ming dynasty China, women in the emperor’s court used honey and ground orange seeds to keep their skin and hair fresh and beautiful.

But what was there about this amazing ingredient that made people take note? Well, for one thing honey never needed additives to keep it from spoiling, a blessing in the pre-refrigerator era.  Only much later did modern scientists discover that it has strong antioxidant properties and is a great source of enzymes, vitamins and minerals and amino acids that reduce inflammation and promote cellular regeneration, which helps keep skin youthful.

By the 1800′s, honey had become a common ingredient in many cosmetics, and today literally thousands of commercial beauty products are made with this awesome ingredient.  Many of the world’s leading health and beauty spas provide hair and skin treatments with honey-based preparations.

The Salt Honey Mask – A honey mask recipe for youthful, glowing skin.

  • 1 tsp. salt. Salt has been used for centuries as a healing agent.
  • Few drops of olive oil

Mix everything together until the mask resembles caramel.  Apply gently over clean, wet skin in a circular motion, making sure to avoid eye area. It tightens, preserves and acts as an exfoliation, removing those stubborn dead skin cells, allowing new and healthy skin to emerge.
